Girls Basketball

Program Philosophy

Program Overview:

We, as Totino-Grace Girls Basketball, pride ourselves in being a "Family". In line with the mission of the school, the basketball program will provide a place for young women to Learn, embrace their Faith and Serve within their Community as a family contributing to something bigger than themselves.

The goal of Totino-Grace Girls Basketball is to help teach the value of teamwork, leadership, dedication and persistence.

As coaches, it is our hope that our student athletes carry these valuable life skills with them long after their four years at Totino-Grace. It is our expectation that they will share their gifts with the greater community by giving back and embracing the mission of who we are.

Program Overview:

Our girls basketball program is committed to building strong young women with a high sense of character through the game of basketball.  Our focus is centered on the following standards/guidelines:

TG Girls Basketball Championship Standards:

Let Your Faith Carry You

It is a great blessing to be apart of the Catholic community of Totino-Grace where we are encouraged to grow in our faith at all times. Be committed to the development of your faith and recognize that the most important relationship in your life is with Christ.

Championship Behavior

High character means doing the right thing all the time in all settings. Be a champion in every area of your life – in your faith, in the classroom, on the court, in your relationships.

Quiet Confidence

Be humble but display a strong belief in yourself and your abilities. We have all been blessed with God-given talents and it is our job to share those to enhance the program.

Family Focus

Invest in the lives of your teammates, enjoy this journey with them, and embrace the adversity you’ll face and conquer it together.

Tireless Work Ethic

Strive to constantly practice and compete with the mindset of outworking everyone. It won’t work unless you do!

Help Others Succeed

“Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an encouragement to those who hear them.” Ephesians 4:29. Don’t simply be satisfied with your own accomplishments – help someone else reach theirs.

Display a willingness to sacrifice personal goals for the good of the team/program.

Control the Controllables

There are many things in life that are out of our control but understand and take advantage of your ability to control your attitude, effort, and willingness to be a great teammate.

Well Done vs. Well Said

Let your actions represent your purpose. Don’t just speak of your desire to be strong in your faith, to have a strong work ethic, to be a great teammate – show it.

Contagious Energy

Players must demonstrate a contagious energy and enthusiasm that others want to be around. If you are constantly striving to be the best version of yourself, your efforts are bound to inspire others.

About Coach Bowlin
Totino-Grace High School girls basketball coach Patrick Bowlin has a variety of experiences coaching many different sports at the high school and college level and an upbringing in athletics and coaching.

He is no stranger to TG as he spent time here in 2015 as the JV volleyball coach. “I’m thrilled about the opportunity to be back coaching at Totino-Grace and the chance to build a great girls basketball program. I know that TG is a special place, and I love being a part of a Catholic community. I’m eager to begin working with the players, parents, administration, and the entire TG community again,” Bowlin said. "I’m grateful for my coaching experiences thus far, and I’ve always had a passion for coaching basketball and couldn’t be more excited to do that at TG. I want to use basketball as a platform to help develop character that empowers young women. A significant part of accomplishing this goal involves developing an culture of care and encouragement for one another.”

Patrick currently works as an elementary fourth grade teacher at St. Mark’s Catholic School in St. Paul. Additionally, Patrick is a volleyball assistant coach at the University of St. Thomas and head softball coach at Cretin-Derham Hall.
