Eric Gartland ’91 Memorial Scholarship

The Eric Gartland Memorial Scholarship is awarded to students who demonstrate strong character and moral conviction. In alignment with the values of the Gartland family, recipients should reflect qualities such as:

  • Honesty and integrity
  • Personal responsibility and hard work
  • Respect for others
  • An appreciation for the importance of faith and family life

Award Details
  • Scholarship Amount: $8,000 per year
  • Renewability: Fully renewable throughout the student's time at Totino-Grace, provided renewal criteria are met.
Initial Eligibility & Application Requirements
To be considered for selection as a Gartland Scholar, interested applicants must complete the following steps:
  • Financial Aid: Demonstrate qualifying financial need via a completed TADS application.
  • Admissions: Complete all standard Totino-Grace admissions requirements.
  • Reference: Submit one reference letter, preferably from a teacher, school administrator, or coach. The reference must specifically address the applicant’s character and explain why they merit consideration for this award.
  • Essay (see below)
  • Enroll in the Class of 2030 at Totino-Grace
Renewal Criteria
To maintain the scholarship in subsequent years, the recipient must:
  • Maintain a cumulative 3.0 GPA at Totino-Grace.
  • Adhere strictly to the Totino-Grace Code of Conduct.
Submit a brief essay (2–4 paragraphs, maximum 300 words) addressing the following prompts:
  • What does living a life of strong character and moral conviction mean to you?
  • How do you plan to use your character and skills to contribute to the Totino-Grace High School community?
