Technology at Totino-Grace supports the academic and administrative needs of our school community including our faculty, staff, students and families. We recognize that our students are digital natives and the world beyond Totino-Grace requires them to have transferable 21st Century skills. We are committed to providing a technological environment which enriches the learning process, facilitates collaboration, and fosters the skills necessary for success both inside and outside of Totino-Grace.
With the goal of best preparing our students to digitally live, learn and work in the 21st Century, our classrooms incorporate technologies including: MacBook Air laptops, Mimio® interactive whiteboards, digital and document cameras, student response systems, blogs, wikis and other Web 2.0 tools.
Totino-Grace employs a Curriculum Integration Specialist and IT Specialists to work with our students and faculty to make the most of the tools and programs available to them to enhance their academic learning experience. In addition, our educators participate in ongoing training to learn how best to instruct the "digital natives" sitting in our classrooms today.
Although the integration of a digital device greatly enhances student learning and skill development it does not replace the teacher; in fact, good teachers are needed more than ever to guide students in their learning. Good pedagogy is still required, and a strong curriculum based on standards is still essential. The key to student success will continue to be the personal relationship that exists between student and teacher. Totino-Grace teachers understand and follow the call of St. John Baptist de La Salle to touch the hearts of their students.
