Annual Ministry Theme

About the 2016-2017 Theme

Each summer, Totino-Grace Student Ministers - juniors and seniors committed to being faith leaders in our school community - select a theme for the coming school year based on the lives of one of our founders. For the 2016-2017 school year, we unite with Lasallian schools and communities across the globe in an institution-wide theme of “One Call, Many Voices.”

In a world of many voices and values, we invite our students, staff and families to prayerfully and purposefully discern God’s call in their lives and in our community.

As we grow, we learn that what satisfies our deep human hunger is generosity and giving in joyful freedom. “To live a life of generosity and freedom is to respond to a call in the depths of the heart.” Saint John Baptist de La Salle, founder of the Brothers and of the Christian Schools, was seized by this call. His lifelong quest, undertaken in joyful freedom, led him to share the totality of his person with those in greatest need.

Can we too joyfully and freely respond to God’s call in our in lives?

In what amazing ways will our TG community be an amplifier for God’s message this year?

We are excited to share our theme this year with other Lasallian institutions with the hope of experiencing a deeper diversity of ways in which we respond to God’s call. God calls us all to live out the Gospel, to be like Christ to others, and to see Christ in those most vulnerable. This school year, we will be challenged to unite our many voices and to live a life of giving.

Theme Prayer

The theme prayer was written by campus ministry staff with the assistance of student ministers. Material was obtained for the 2016 theme prayer from the global LaSallian Institute and a day-long Totino-Grace student ministry team retreat. The prayer will be used throughout the school year.

God who calls us,

You have given us Christ, our foundation and strength.

We give you thanks for His daily presence in and through our Church and in all those who came before us as models of His Gospel living.

We ask for openness that we may be radically transformed by your love and able to respond when you call.

Give us wisdom and courage to be a people who hear Your voice among the many and amplify your love to every corner of the world.

Call us together that our many voices will speak for the voiceless and that we act not on our own desires, but as instruments of Your will for all people.

We make this prayer through Jesus, who calls us to You.

Amen.

Theme Song

The 2016 ministry theme song was written by Totino-Grace student Ben Kroll, Charlie Kroll and Ian McCormick with the guidance of Instrumental Music Director Mr. Tim Hoffman.

One call many voices
One common ground
We break bread we drink wine
Brothers and Sisters in Christ

Once or twice in life we stumble
How we get back up define us
When we discover who we are
We find ourselves in God

We join our voices and sing
Sing praise to our King

One call many voices
One common ground
We break bread we drink wine
Brothers and Sisters in Christ

We grow distracted by many voices
We fall off our path
The journey’s long, but don’t abandon
We find God’s one true Call

We join our voices and sing
Sing praise to our King

One call many voices
One common ground
We break bread we drink wine
Brothers and Sisters in Christ

We cannot offer sanctuary
If we don’t dwell in God
We find our dwelling place
Shown to us through prayer

We join our voices and sing
Sing praise to our King
One call many voices
One common ground

We break bread we drink wine
Brothers and Sisters in Christ
