Guidelines

Eligibility

A student who does not have a 1.67 GPA at the end of a given quarter will be automatically enrolled in Achieve until the next marking period (end of the following quarter). This GPA is based on the current period average and not the cumulative GPA.

Support

Students enrolled in Achieve will be provided with a mentor as well as formally assigned to a school counselor. Students will meet periodically with their mentor and counselor who will formally monitor the student’s progress as well as provide encouragement, support, and guidance.  The mentor or counselor will also communicate with parents and/or guardians about the program and a student’s achievement.

Achieve Team

The Achieve Mentor, the school counselor, and the student’s parents/guardians will serve as the student’s Achieve Team.  An Achieve Team Meeting will be held at the beginning of the process to discuss the student’s needs and formulate a plan of action.

Progress

At any time, failure to fulfill the requirements of Achieve or to make measurable academic improvement will result in a meeting of the student and his/her Achieve Team. The purpose of the meeting is to discuss the student’s future at Totino-Grace and determine possible interventions.  Interventions may include, but are not limited to additional methods of support, ineligibility for co-curriculuar activities, suspension or withdrawal from Totino-Grace.
