Academic Guide

Dear Students:

The Totino-Grace High School curriculum has been designed by the staff and administration to support the key elements of our mission: learning, faith, community, and service. As educators in a Catholic school, we are committed to providing a learning environment where each student feels supported and is allowed to succeed. When Totino-Grace students combine their required courses with their elective choices, they should experience a comprehensive course of studies which will prepare them for whatever they choose to do after high school.

This Academic Guide offers a detailed look at our academic program, as well as our scheduling policies and procedures. These website links should help you plan a strong academic program for the 2013-2014 school year.

Give serious thought to the planning of your academic program. It should be a plan that takes into consideration the educational and career goals that you are beginning to set for yourself. You should work with your parents, teachers, counselors, and administrators to create a program that meets your individual needs.

Read and study the Academic Guide webpages. The time you spend planning now will ensure that you will be able to meet your goals as you move toward graduation. Once you have indicated your preferences, we will work to honor your course requests to the best of our abilities.

Best wishes in your planning,

Ms. Julie Michels                       Mrs. Cheri Broadhead

Registration Process

From Friday, February 15 to Monday, February 25 students will be involved in the very important process of registering for classes for next year. The 2013-2014 Master Schedule will be built based on the choices students make now. It is essential, therefore, that students carefully review their graduation credit status and plan well for next year.

The REgistration Process steps:

1. Carefully study this Academic Guide.
When making plans, students must keep in mind prerequisites, graduation requirements, and progress toward the fifty (50) credits necessary for graduation. Students must take a minimum of fourteen credits per year - no fewer than seven per semester. Teacher Aides are not included in this minimum.

2. Students should consult with homeroom teachers, parents, current teachers, School Counselors, Ms. Michels or Mrs. Broadhead. Throughout the process, take the time to plan thoughtfully.

3. On the 2013-2014 Course Registration Form (distributed to students in homeroom), students must check the courses they wish to register for and get the required signatures.

4. Parents and homeroom teachers must sign the 2013-2014 Course Registration Form before it is turned in.  Students who wish to take more than 14 credits must also get approval (signature) from Ms. Michels or Mrs. Broadhead.

5. Students must turn in the completed Course Registration Form to their homeroom teacher during morning homeroom on Monday, February 25, 2013.
