Diversity

As a Catholic high school in the Lasallian tradition, we are committed to welcoming a student body that is academically, economically, and culturally diverse. We strive to provide a safe, nurturing community that places a priority on mutual respect and preparing students for their place in the world community.

The Diversity and Inclusion Program is designed to both support students from culturally diverse groups as well as work with the entire community of students and staff to become more welcoming of diversity and more inclusive of all people regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, academic ability, sexual orientation, or economics.

Student of Color Group

The Student of Color Group (SoCG) exists to strengthen cross-cultural communication and relationships across the TG campus and community, dialogue about issues of diversity, and work for social change. The SoCG meets once every other week to focus on shared experiences and to critically examine various issues and isms that relate to living in a multicultural and diverse community. These goals are accomplished through community building and personal reflection exercises. Students are offered support and brainstorming sessions to develop and strengthen their coping strategies and critical thinking skills needed to thrive at TG, home and their individual and global communities.

Diversity and Inclusion Student Committee (DISC)

The Diversity and Inclusion Student Committee is a student-led group that plans and implements school-wide diversity and inclusion programs and experiences for the entire student body. Membership is open to all students committed to raising the awareness and appreciation of all forms of diversity.

Parents of Student of Color Group

The purpose of the Parents of Student of Color Group is to provide the opportunity for parents to have regular means of communication with school administration. It is designed to provide a forum for open dialogue, conversation, and feedback with the school administration and parents of students of color.

Faculty and Staff Professional Development

It is the goal of the Diversity and Inclusion program to ensure that multicultural education is embedded within the curriculum. The Director of Diversity and Inclusion, together with the Administrative Team, designs ongoing professional development opportunities in the areas of multicultural education, diversity, and inclusion. The Director works one-on-one with teachers and staff, providing individual coaching and consultation.

Diversity Goals:
